Andy will be the first to tell you that his passion for electronic music and DJing didn’t develop until his early twenties. His musical taste was never the same as his peers, not interested in the latest tape packs of UK Garage or the brand new Hip Hop or R&B artists that were all the rage at the time. It was more Rock, Metal and Alternative that made his ears prick up.
Given his cousins Bass Guitar when he was 14 he set about teaching himself how to play, then moving onto a guitar a year later a passion for music was clear, embracing any music he considered came the soul.
It wasn’t until he moved out and started spending an unhealthy amount of time in a bar that on the weekend specialised in House music, he became good friends with the pool of DJs and started to take a active interest in what these DJs were playing and then started to 'muck about' on there decks given any opportunity.
After a while he found himself attending more and more underground house and techno events in the underbelly of London’s society. He knew this is the place he wanted to be and set about getting sets in these clubs. Playing in venues scattered around Croydon (his home town) Brighton and Shoreditch.
2008 saw him carve out a sound that caught the eye of promoters at venues like Unit 7, The Egg, Corsica Studios, Pacha, Ministry of Sound, Public Life, 54, 54 Mile End, Herbal and a host of back ally bars scattered around east London. Sets in Ibiza and Liverpool also a high point in a very busy year for Andy.
2008 also saw him join Lost Souls and features regularly spinning his deep dubby sounds at the Techno Club event at Public life. Production is next up on the list, collaborating with fellow Lost Soul Xi, under his alias Protégé. Watch this space.
